Travel on B.C. Transit buses will be free in Campbell River and the Comox Valley for Canada Day.

B.C. Transit’s eight routes in Campbell River and 16 routes in the Comox Valley won’t require a fare.

The Campbell River transit system will operate on a special Canada Day schedule, while Comox Valley will run on ­Saturday schedule, with detours near downtown Courtenay for the Canada parade and celebrations.

Nanaimo buses will run on Sunday schedules with normal fares, but there will be free shuttles from Woodgrove Mall and South Parkway Plaza to Maffeo Sutton Park, where celebrations are being held.

The B.C. Transit bus system in Greater Victoria on Canada Day Monday will run on a Saturday schedule and will provide late-night service. Normal fares will be charged.

Extra buses will run to get people home from downtown after the fireworks, the City of Victoria said. (Drone show at 10:15 p.m., fireworks at 10:22 p.m.)
