A gas leak Tuesday morning resulted in about 40 residential customers losing gas service and closed Fairfield road in both directions from Foul Bay to Denison roads.
FortisBC crews, who attended along with the Victoria Fire Department, completed repairs by about 3 p.m. and the road was reopened.
Once the repairs were done, technicians went to the affected homes to turn the gas back on.
The leak happened when a gas line was damaged while unspecified work was going on, said FortisBC spokesperson Lauren Lea.
“It was an external party, so someone working in the area.”
