Police flooded into Sidney on Thursday afternoon and arrested what they called a “high-risk repeat offender.”
Sidney/North Island RCMP and members of the Vancouver Island Emergency Response Team located the suspect and made the arrest in the 9600 block of Third Street at about 3:15 p.m. He had barricaded himself inside a residence before police convinced him to come out.
“One high-risk repeat offender was taken into custody and there is no risk to the public,” Const. Tim Cosgrove of the Sidney/North Saanich detachment said in a statement.
He said no further details are being released as the matter is still an active investigation.
