Island Health is warning users of some area beaches after water-quality tests showed high levels of bacteria in late May.

Affected beaches include Coles Bay beach in North Saanich, Saanich Inlet off Clarke Road, Victoria’s Ross Bay beach and Kinsmen beach in Esquimalt Gorge Park.

Alerts will end and signage will be removed once the beach advisories have been lifted.

A beach-sampling program takes place annually from mid-May to September, with environmental-health officers from Island Health working with local governments to monitor water quality during the swimming season.
