High winds could mean ferry cancellations off north Island

B.C. Ferries issued an early-afternoon warning Thursday that forecasted high winds could affect sailings in the north coast, central coast and north Vancouver Island areas.

It said sailings from Port McNeill to Alert Bay and Sointula were at risk of being cancelled for the rest of the day.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us, and we will continue to monitor this weather system and share information as it becomes available,” B.C. Ferries said in a statement.
