The body of a 32-year-old man who has been missing since late April was found in East Sooke Park on Saturday.Foul play is not suspected in the death of Daniel Gandza. The cause of death was not released. Gandza’s family and friends were baffled by his sudden disappearance, saying it was out of character for him to be out of touch. They also said Gandza had no history of mental illness. Around 11 a.m. on Saturday, a hiker who got lost in East Sooke Park was trying to get back on the trail when he found Gandza’s body in an area that was not well-travelled. Regional coroner Matt Brown said the location made it difficult for the coroner, Sooke RCMP and Juan de Fuca ground search and rescue volunteers to retrieve the body.  Gandza was last seen April 27, leaving a friend’s house in Fernwood around 2:30 a.m. He went home briefly, then left. Neither his roommates nor his family had heard from him. Brown said the family has been notified about the discovery of the body. The coroners service will continue to investigate Gandza’s medical condition and mental health to “get a better sense of what was happening in his life,” Brown said.
