Mid-Island first responders were busy with motor vehicle crashes along Highway 4 this Canada Day weekend.
Shortly after noon on Friday, a vehicle incident closed Highway 4 near the intersection of Broughton Street in Port Alberni for about two hours.
Saturday morning saw a two-vehicle incident on Highway 4 west of Cathedral Grove, with the Port Alberni Fire Department warning of delays for motorists travelling in both direction.
In both crashes, one injured person was airlifted to hospital, according to CHEK News.
