Island Health sees two more cases of COVID-19, 62 new cases in B.C.

Another two new cases of COVID-19 in the Island Health region were announced on Wednesday, among 62 new cases in the province. There are now 896 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, including 13 active cases on Vancouver Island.

Another two new cases of COVID-19 in the Island Health region were announced on Wednesday, among 62 new cases in the province.

There are now 896 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, including 13 active cases on Vancouver Island. Another 2,730 people are being monitored as a result of exposure to known cases.

Twenty-one people are in hospital with COVID-19 in B.C., including seven in intensive care. The rest are at home in isolation. None are in Island Health.

No new COVID-19 related deaths were announced, leaving the total number of deaths in B.C. at 203.

There are 12 outbreaks in health facilities, including 10 in long-term care or assisted-living facilities, and two in acute-care facilities.

Events that may have resulted in exposure to the virus are posted on the website of the B.C. Centre for Disease Control. Check there or on health authorities’ websites for information on what to do if exposed to COVID-19.

To date there have been 5,304 cases of COVID-19 in B.C., including 1,699 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region; 2,795 in the Fraser Health region; 170 in the Island Health region; 429 in the Interior Health region; 133 in the Northern Health region; and 78 cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
