A brief labour dispute within the company that picks up the region’s blue box recycling system will delay pickups again today.

Emterra Environmental has advised the Capital Regional District the internal dispute has been resolved, but scheduled collection will be delayed by several hours.

Curbside recycling collection service was disrupted Tuesday due to the undisclosed labour dispute.

The CRD said many scheduled routes will not be completed today, and to avoid compounding service delays, Emterra will not be able to recover recyclable materials on alternate collection days.

If recycling is not picked up by 9 p.m. tonight, residents are asked to bring their materials back inside until their next collection day on March 2.

Recyclable materials that were not collected on Tuesday will not be picked up by Emterra until March 1.

The current disruptions follow a series of pickup delays over the past two months caused by snowfall and heavy rains, equipment breakdowns and a shortage of trucks. Emterra was able to finally clear huge backlogs of materials over the past two weeks by bringing in extra personnel and trucks from the Lower Mainland.
