About 12 kilograms of drugs and weapons, including a loaded AR15-style rifle and loaded handgun, were seized when multiple police groups carried out search warrants in Langford, Saanich, Victoria and the Malahat area this month.
Large containers of ammunition were also found, as well as over $6,000 in cash and $10,000 worth of suspected stolen property in its original packaging, some of it with security tags still attached.
One person was arrested.
The operation was led by the West Shore RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Unit, with assistance from the the RCMP Emergency Response Team, the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, Saanich police and Victoria police.
Officers searched a total of five vehicles and four properties.
Sgt. Ryan Walsh of the Drugs and Organized Crime Unit called it a “significant seizure” that’s expected to affect drug trafficking beyond the West Shore.
Seized were about six kilograms of drugs suspected to be fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and psilicybin, about six kilograms of a liquid drug suspected to be GHB, more than 1,000 unknown pills, with some packaged in prescription bottles, drug-packaging paraphernalia, the AR15-style rifle and loaded 50-calibre Double Eagle handgun, one replica handgun, two replica rifles, two handgun magazines, three prohibited rifle magazines, a prohibited silencer and a gas mask.
