Lost Canucks hockey stick given to Nanaimo boys has been found

Flair Airlines tracked down the missing piece of luggage and has returned it to the family.

Good news for a pair of young Nanaimo hockey fans: A prized Canucks hockey stick lost during a recent flight has been found.

“It was found by Flair Airlines … and returned to the family. All in all, a good outcome,” said Mike Arnott, of Flair Airlines in an email late on Saturday.

The saga began after Janelle Erwin and her sons, Linden and Marshall, were returning from Edmonton after attending a game between the Vancouver Canucks and Oilers.

Canucks captain Bo Horvat had handed over his personalized hockey stick, with his name in small silver letters on the shaft, as well as the number 53 on the grip.

“The boys were absolutely over the moon receiving that stick,” Erwin said.

Tragedy struck when the stick, which was checked into the luggage hold, went missing.

After waiting four days, Erwin took to Twitter on Wednesday with a public appeal.

Horvat assured the two young fans that he would personally autograph and send them a replacement stick.
