Lt. Gov. Guichon to deliver throne speech Tuesday

Lt. Gov. Judith Guichon will read the government’s throne speech at the B.C. legislature on Tuesday. The fourth session of the 40th B.C. parliament will be dissolved at noon. Guichon will arrive at the legislature at 1:30 p.m.

Lt. Gov. Judith Guichon will arrive at the legislature at 1:30 p.m. and will be met by a 15-gun salute by the B.C. Field Artillery Regiment of the Royal Canadian Artillery.

Lt. Gov. Judith Guichon will read the government’s throne speech at the B.C. legislature on Tuesday.

The fourth session of the 40th B.C. parliament will be dissolved at noon.

Guichon will arrive at the legislature at 1:30 p.m. to be met by a 15-gun salute by the B.C. Field Artillery Regiment of the Royal Canadian Artillery.

The pomp and ceremony will include an inspection of the honour guard.

The throne speech is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

The arrival of the lieutenant governor and the throne speech will be broadcast live at 1:15 p.m. and webcast at ThroneSpeechBC.ca

Last year, Premier Christy Clark’s Liberal government delivered a threadbare throne speech that promised British Columbians a new medal for good citizenship and little else.

Clark made no apologies for her stay-the-course strategy for balanced budgets, promoting a diverse economy, opening up overseas markets, developing an LNG industry, cutting red tape and overhauling secondary and post-secondary education.
