Major crime unit called in after senior's body found in Texada Island home

Police said they believe it’s an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the community

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is investigating after the body of an 81-year-old man was found in a home on Texada Island, near Powell River.

The unit was brought in after Texada RCMP responded to a call early Monday and found the man’s body at a residence on Para Street.

Police said they believe it’s an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the community.

No further details were revealed.
