A 22-year-old man was arrested at a Rogers Avenue home about 1 p.m. Tuesday after Victoria police arrived earlier in the day to execute a search warrant focussed on firearms and drugs.
Victoria police were joined by the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team and Saanich police at the home. Houses beside and behind the home were evacuated as a precaution while negotiations were carried out with the suspect, said Saanich police Sgt. Steve Eassie.
The search turned up two handguns and ammunition, said Victoria police Const. Matt Rutherford.
