Victoria police arrested a man and a woman in connection with the robbery of a Rogers video store last week.

The Quadra Street store was robbed Sept. 2 by a man who used bear spray to threaten staff. Cellphones and tablets were stolen from a safe, and money was taken from the till.

A few days later, police spotted someone they believed to be the suspect in the 100 block of Gorge Road. Officers combed the area and arrested the man. He was carrying a duffle bag that contained what appeared to be electronic devices taken from the Rogers store and clothing used in the crime. A woman was also arrested after being found with an iPhone believed to have been taken from the store.

Paul Wright, 42, and Hayley Ann Sproule, 30, were held in custody pending telebail hearings. Wright, facing a charge of robbery with a weapon, will be in court again Oct. 1, while Sproule is set to appear Friday on charges of robbery and possession of stolen property.
