A Port Alberni man missing since Tuesday was found just before noon on Saturday in the Maquinna Trails area, according to Alberni Valley Rescue Squad.
James Vezina, 30, was reported missing by family and friends after going missing in the Alberni Valley.
Volunteers and members of the Alberni Valley and other search-and-rescue groups began searching for him along local hiking trails on Friday.
One of the search crews encountered Vezina, who was on foot in the area of Seizai and Ship Creek Road, south of the city.
He told rescuers he had gotten lost after losing his sense of direction after leaving his home late in the evening.
Given the number of days he was lost, Vezina was in relatively good health, according to his rescuers. He was transported to West Coast General Hospital.
Search-and-rescue personnel from Comox Valley, Arrowsmith and Campbell River had all travelled to Port Alberni to assist in the search.
