Several sailings of the Mill Bay-Brentwood Bay ferry were cancelled Thursday morning due to unexpected crew absences.

Ferries can’t run without a specified number of crew members due to federal safety regulations.

“We’ve exhausted all options to get the needed crew in place and continue to contact all potential replacement crew members with the goal of keeping you in a safe and timely fashion,” B.C. Ferries said in a statement.

Just before 10 a.m., B.C. Ferries said it had found crew and that service would resume starting with the 11 a.m. departure from Brentwood Bay.
