Poppy Smith hasn't heard from her 30-year-old son, who goes by Cody, since Aug. 18 when he told her he was headed to Tex-ada Island with a friend.

When she hadn't heard from the Duncan resident by Sept. 27, the worried mother called police.

"It is not uncommon for Cody to go away for periods of a week or so," said Cpl. Jon Stuart, spokesman for North Cowichan/Dun-can RCMP. "She does not think anything unusual

happened to him, but is concerned about him."

Cody does not have a vehicle or a cellphone.

He is described as a Caucasian male, six-foot-one and 209 pounds, with brown hair, a beard and hazel eyes. He usually wears a baseball cap.

Anyone with information regarding Cody's whereabouts is asked to contact the North Cowichan/ Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800222-TIPS (8477).
