Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning forecasting between five and 10 centimetres of heavy snow Wednesday night through Thursday.
The storm system will move across the south coast of B.C. tonight, says Environment Canada, resulting in widespread snow beginning this evening and tapering off Thursday morning.
The warning includes Greater Victoria, eastern Vancouver Island, the southern Gulf Islands, Sunshine Coast, Metro Vancouver and west and central Fraser Valley. Most regions will see a quick accumulation of five centimetres of snow overnight over a span of three to six hours.
There’s potential for heavier amounts particularly over parts of Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast, and North Shore Mountains.
B.C. Transit issued an advisory Wednesday warning of potential delays and detours due to the forecast snow and freezing rain over the next several days. Updates will be posted on the B.C. Transit alerts page.
We are expecting measurable accumulations of snow tonight throughout Vancouver Island. Please drive cautiously, be prepared, and expect winter driving conditions. #YYJTraffic #BCStorm #ShiftIntoWinter #VanIsle #ShiftIntoWinter #BCHwy1 #BCHwy14 #BCHwy17 #BCHwy18 pic.twitter.com/GqeKZVE3Ms
