Vancouver Island’s lone wildfire at Muir Creek, about 27 kilometres northwest of Sooke, will be in the final mop-up stage over the next few days.
It is now holding in size at about a hectare, said Coastal Fire Centre information assistant Bryan Zandberg.
A Friday morning patrol had located a couple of hot spots that had to be dealt with, he said.
The fire was first reported July 16 and is suspected to be human-caused.
The blaze is in a remote location and is not deemed to pose a threat to homes or infrastructure.
