Police said the 26-year-old employee confronted a man for allegedly shoplifting about 6 p.m. Jan. 11. The owners do not want the business involved to be identified.

The employee told officers that he approached the suspect at the front doors after watching him try to leave without paying for two speakers valued at $1,500. The suspect punched him several times and threatened to stab him with a knife.

The suspect alluded to having a knife in his pocket but did not produce one.
