West Shore RCMP say multiple vehicles were vandalized early Monday on Langford’s Grob Court, a small street near Belmont Secondary School, with damage totalling in the tens of thousands of dollars.
Police responded within minutes of being called about 3:40 a.m. but no suspects were located.
Nine vehicles suffered damage that included smashed windows and tail lights, and dented doors.
Officers spoke to several witnesses, including one who was hit with what is believed to have been bear spray from one of two vehicles seen driving away from the scene.
Witnesses said two to four males were seen getting into the vehicles.
Police are asking area residents to check footage on home-surveillance cameras from 2-4 a.m. on Monday.
“If you think you have captured the suspects on camera, please call the police at 250-474-2264 to report your information,” Cpl. Nancy Saggar said.
One of the suspects was wearing a dark hoodie and hat, police said, and one dark-coloured vehicle and one light-coloured vehicle were seen leaving the area.
Police issued a reminder to the public to immediately report suspicious activity, and not to approach the suspects.
