A quick, aggressive attack meant Sidney firefighters were able to save a commercial building on Galaran Road and keep fire contained to one small room early Sunday.
Sidney firefighters were called out about 1:20 a.m. after two people called to report smoke in the area, said Deputy Fire Chief Mike Harman. No one could pinpoint where it was coming from.
“Upon arrival, we located it at Nicholson Manufacturing. It was upgraded to a partial structure fire, which brought us two engines from North Saanich fire department, one engine from Central Saanich,” Harman said.
In total, about 35 firefighters responded, he said, along with Sidney RCMP and B.C. Ambulance.
The blaze was extinguished about 3 a.m. No one was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Herman said. Crews returned to the scene around midday Sunday.
Harman said he was unable to give a damage estimate at this time.
