Oak Bay police looking for man seen placing teddy bear around recreation centre

Oak Bay police are investigating a report of a suspicious man who has been leaving a small teddy bear near the Oak Bay Recreation Centre. A 14-year-old girl told police that on Dec. 20 about 2:15 p.m.

Oak Bay police are investigating a report of a suspicious man who has been leaving a small teddy bear near the Oak Bay Recreation Centre.

A 14-year-old girl told police that on Dec. 20 about 2:15 p.m. she was walking with friends and saw the man place the teddy bear on the sidewalk. When she picked it up, the man — estimated to be 25- to 35-years-old — approached and began to talk to the group of friends.

The girl told police she saw man in the same area Jan. 1 behind some bushes, again with the teddy bear on the sidewalk.

Police were called and looked for the man and talked to area residents about the incidents.

The man is described as six feet and about 190 pounds with black hair. He was riding a white bicycle.
