“Buying items online carries risks, especially with resold tickets, as it is difficult to verify their legitimacy,” say police.

Saanich police are investigating several complaints involving the resale of Taylor Swift tickets through Facebook community groups and Facebook Marketplace.

Police said the sellers appear to be legitimate and promise to send the tickets once payment is received, but the tickets are never sent.

“Buying items online carries risks, especially with resold tickets, as it is difficult to verify their legitimacy,” police said in a statement. “Once you send an e-transfer, the money is gone.”

They recommend buying concert tickets only from verified organizations, and using a credit card or PayPal for added security when making purchases online.
