One man airlifted to hospital after 'targeted shooting' in Nanaimo: RCMP

The shooting is believed to be targeted, and police said there is no risk to the public.

A man was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after what RCMP said was a targeted shooting in the Long Lake area of Nanaimo on Saturday evening.

An RCMP spokesman said the victim was in stable condition Sunday after being transported by air ambulance to either a Vancouver or Victoria area hospital.

RCMP said because the shooting was targeted, there is no risk to the public.

The shooting happened at a lake-front property on Corunna Avenue, a dead-end street, near 101st Street.

Police were called about 6 p.m.

RCMP said the victim was known to them.

The shooter fired four shots and fled the scene and had not been located by late Sunday afternoon, police said.

The RCMP’s Major Crime Unit is investigating and collecting evidence at the scene.

Police ask anyone with footage from home surveillance or dash cams around the 4200 block of Corunna Avenue to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
