Victorians can buy a meal or donate needed items to help earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey this weekend.
You can order Turkish or Philippine meals by Friday to take home on Saturday from the Philippine Bayanihan Community Centre.
The centre, a gathering place for Filipino Canadians in Victoria, is sponsoring a takeout fundraising event for earthquake relief in collaboration with the Turkish community in Victoria and with help from the University of Victoria Filipino community.
Dishes will include adobo, Lumpiang Shanghai and pancit from the Philippines and a Turkish meal, or couscous and piyas from Turkey.
In addition to the food sales, the centre will accept cash, debit and credit card donations, with tax receipts issued for donations $20 and over. All proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross, with a matching contribution by the federal government.
Food orders should be made by Friday, with pickup between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday at the community centre, 1709 Blanshard St.

The Turkish Bakery has started a donation campaign, collecting items for basic needs.
It is looking for baby diapers, baby food (ready to use), canned food, sleeping bags, winter tents, blankets, winter jackets, first-aid kits, hygiene products and body bags.
Used clothing will not be accepted due to hygiene reasons.
Donations can be dropped off at:
