B.C. Ferries is warning travellers that pay parking facilities are full at Nanaimo and Victoria terminals during what is “typically the most popular weekend of the year for walk-on passengers.”
On Saturday evening the ferry notice announced that parking lots had reached capacity at the Swartz Bay, Departure Bay and Duke Point terminals.
Parking lots at Tsawwassen, Horseshoe Bay and Langdale have also filled.
B.C. Ferries said it was adding 85 sailings over the Thanksgiving long weekend and was expecting more than 420,000 passengers and 160,000 vehicles between Thursday and Tuesday.
The ferry service added 66 sailings on the popular Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay route specifically, including 6 a.m. departures from both terminals from Oct. 6 to Oct. 11.
Service was also added for Southern Gulf Islands customers and foot passenger reservations were available for those travelling from Tsawwassen to the Southern Gulf Islands.
