West Shore RCMP say they have identified a person of interest in connection with the investigation of a September sexual assault.

Between midnight and 2 a.m. Sept. 6, a female aged 14 to 16 was alone in View Royal Park on Pheasant Lane when a man approached her and sexually assaulted her. She sustained minor injuries.

Last week, police issued a news release describing the person of interest being sought, which generated numerous tips.

Cpl. Nancy Saggar thanked the public and media for their help and said the investigation is continuing.
