Emergency responders on Saturday pulled a person out of Langford Lake who required immediate medical assistance.

A B.C. Emergency Health Services spokesperson said one patient was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Langford Fire Chief Chris Aubrey said the department’s fire rescue boat was deployed around 2 p.m. for a water rescue at Langford Lake.

The incident occurred near the lake’s floating swim dock a short walk from Westhills Drive.

The rescue boat was used to help ferry emergency responders who were providing medical assistance on a swimming dock, Aubrey said.

One person was taken to shore, he said. “I know B.C. Ambulance was working on the patient. My understanding was that it was a young person.”

Sue Harper, who was at the scene of the incident, said the person appeared to be unconscious and was intubated before being taken away by ambulance.
