Police said two women were riding horses May 30 along Quayle Road, which runs off Interurban Road, when the Corvette came up behind them.

Saanich police are trying to identify the owner of a newer-model white Corvette whose revving engine spooked a horse on Quayle Road, causing both the horse and rider to fall.

The two are still recovering from their injuries.

Police said two women were riding horses May 30 along Quayle Road, which runs off Interurban Road, when the Corvette came up behind them.

“The engine was revved up so loud that one woman fell off her horse, and the horse also fell,” said Insp. Damian Kowalewich.

The incident was reported a few days later to police. The Traffic Safety Unit is trying to identify the Corvette’s owner, Kowalewich said.

He said police always stress the importance of all users sharing the roads.

“We want to promote a safe environment for all of our horse riders in Saanich,” he said. “A lot of people in the north area of Saanich ride horses.”

Police ask anyone with information to call them at 250-475-4321.
