Port Alberni RCMP responded about 5:30 a.m. Friday to the shooting in a back alley beside 4th Avenue.

A man was shot early Friday in Port Alberni in what is believed to be a targeted crime.

Police responded about 5:30 a.m. to a report of a ­shooting in a back alley beside 4th Avenue.

The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-­threatening injuries while officers contained the area and spoke to witnesses.

B.C. RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alex Bérubé said the ­investigation has so far included a police dog and forensic ­officers.

No arrests have been made, but police are looking for an older-model black Dodge pickup truck seen leaving the area at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information, including surveillance or ­dashcam video, is asked to contact the Port Alberni RCMP at 250-723-2424.
