Power outages reported on southwest Vancouver Island

B.C. Hydro said the cause of the outages is under investigation.

A B.C. Hydro crew at work. Crews were investigating the cause of two outages on southern Vancouver Island on Sunday evening.

More than 1,000 B.C. Hydro customers on southwest Vancouver Island lost power mid-afternoon Sunday.

B.C. Hydro said 550 customers southeast of Port Renfrew are without electricity. The area affected is southeast of Parkinson Road and northwest of West Coast Road.

The cause is under investigation.

Another 530 customers are without power in the area from Jordan River to south of Shirley. The power went out mid-afternoon and the cause is being investigated.
