Rapid COVID-19 tests available at B.C. pharmacies for people aged 18 and up

COVID-19 rapid tests are now available at participating pharmacies for people aged 18 and over, B.C.’s Health Ministry says.

The kit, contaning five rapid antigen tests, is available every 28 days for people with a B.C. personal health number. The tests should be used by those experiencing symptoms of illness.

As of Monday, about 2.7 million rapid tests have been dispensed through about 1,300 pharmacies in B.C. n additional 4.4 million tests are expected from the federal government in March and early April, according to the B.C. government.

On Wednesday, the ministry reported one more death from COVID-19 in the province, pushing the death toll to 2,975.

Hospitalizations have ticked up by four for a total of 258 patients, including 49 in intensive care.

There are five outbreaks at B.C. health-care facilities, with four in long-term care homes and one at Surrey Memorial Hospital. Three of the long-term care outbreaks are in Island Health.

Ninety-one per cent of those 12 and older have received their second vaccination, while 57.1 per cent have had a booster. — CP
