RCMP Const. Sarah Beckett honoured on second anniversary of her death

The two-year anniversary of the death of RCMP Const. Sarah Beckett was marked with a dedication of a Wall of Honour on Thursday. Beckett’s photo was unveiled in the foyer of the West Shore RCMP detachment in Langford.

The two-year anniversary of the death of RCMP Const. Sarah Beckett was marked with a dedication of a Wall of Honour on Thursday.

Beckett’s photo was unveiled in the foyer of the West Shore RCMP detachment in Langford.

The 32-year-old wife and mother of two died when her squad car was struck by a pickup truck at Peatt Road and Goldstream Avenue on April 5, 2016.

Beckett is the first female RCMP officer to die on duty in B.C.

Pickup driver Kenneth Jacob Fenton, who was drunk and travelling as fast 90 kilometres an hour in a 50 km/h zone, has since been sentenced to four years in prison.
