Sidney/North Saanich RCMP are alerting the public about what appears to have been criminals “casing” a home on Lochside Drive, near Amity Drive, in North Saanich.
A 12-volt battery was stolen out of a trailer at the home this week, and police believe there is a link to a man coming to the home last week and asking to use the phone. He was allowed inside while a second person stood in the road and waited.
The homeowner ended up calling a taxi for the pair, but when it arrived, no one was there. The taxi driver said the same thing had happened previously in the area.
Police said it was suspicious that two young adults apparently didn’t have cellphones, and that the incident should serve as a warning not to let strangers into your home.
