RCMP release image of person of interest in Duncan vehicle fire

Police responded to a report of the fire about 8:30 p.m. on May 31 in the parking lot of Walmart at 3020 Drinkwater Rd.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in a suspicious vehicle fire.

Police responded to a report of the fire about 8:30 p.m. on May 31 in the parking lot of Walmart at 3020 Drinkwater Rd. in Duncan.

They are looking for a person seen on surveillance video leaving the store around that time, getting into a truck and driving away.

He is described as a 40- to 50-year-old man with a medium build, wearing a CAT-brand ball cap.

The truck he got into could have been an older-model, blue-and-silver GMC truck with a silver “headache” rack — a rack installed to keep cargo from sliding.

Call North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 with information.
