Recycling truck goes up in flames in Fairfield

A recycling truck burst into flames in Fairfield on Wednesday, leaving the truck a burned-out shell. Smoke started coming from the truck’s engine about 1 p.m. in the 1100 block of McClure Street.

A recycling truck burst into flames in Fairfield on Wednesday, leaving the truck a burned-out shell.

Smoke started coming from the truck’s engine about 1 p.m. in the 1100 block of McClure Street.

Two workers hopped out of the vehicle, and within minutes the truck was fully engulfed in flames, said Victoria Fire Capt. Chad Verch.

No one was injured in the fire. One nearby vehicle was damaged.

Fire investigators are still looking into what caused the fire.
