Saanich police are investigating two bank robberies, thought to have been committed on Monday by the same man.
No one was physically injured in either robbery and most of the $1,345 stolen was recovered when the money was discarded after a dye-pack with the bills went off, Saanich police said.
The first robbery alert came in about 2:30 p.m. from the CIBC bank at Gorge Road and Tillicum Road. About $1,000 was stolen.
A second robbery report came about 3:45 p.m. from the TD bank at Shelbourne Street and Cedar Hill Road. About $345 was stolen.
No weapon was produced in the first robbery but the thief might have indicated he had a weapon and threatened staff during the second heist, police said.
