Saanich police arrest man wanted in connection with Ontario shooting

There were no reported injuries from the May 13 shooting, which Hamilton police believe was targeted.

Saanich police have arrested a man wanted in connection with an Ontario shooting and turned him over to the Hamilton Police Service.

Malcolm Davis, 25, was considered armed and dangerous.

Hamilton police contacted the Saanich police department after receiving information that Davis might have been living in the municipality.

He became the subject of a Canada-wide warrant after the May 13 shooting in a Hamilton alley.

There were no reported injuries from the shooting, which Hamilton police believe was targeted.

Saanich officers worked with the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team to apprehend Davis near the intersection of Quadra Street and Cloverdale Avenue on Aug. 13.

He was held at the Vancouver Island Regional Correction Centre following his arrest and turned over to Hamilton officers Aug. 16 for transport back to Ontario.

He is facing charges that include reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
