A Sea King helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing at the Victoria International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

“At this point, we’re not exactly sure what caused the emergency,” said Major Cory Kwasny of 443 Maritime Helicopter Squadron.

There was no damage to the helicopter and no injuries, Kwasny said. The helicopter is back in the squadron’s hangar and the incident will be investigated.

The Sea King helicopters support Royal Canadian Navy ships in surveillance and security. They are more than 50 years old and set to be replaced by the CH-148 Cyclone next year.
