Shawnigan Lake RCMP have taken over the search of a Saanich man who has been missing for more than a week.
Bernard (Ben) Fournier, 62, was reported missing to Saanich police on April 22 after he had been out of contact with friends for several days. Fournier apparently left his residence on April 16 to travel to Nanaimo for work and no one has seen or heard from him since, police said.
After his vehicle, a 2004 brown and gold Ford Taurus with B.C. licence place CDVo74, was found in a parking lot in the Mill Bay area, Shawningan Lake RCMP took over the investigation.
Surveillance video shows Fournier in the 2700 block of Mill Bay Road between 5:30 and 6 p.m. on April 16. He was last seen walking southbound on Mill Bay Road.
Fournier is described as white, six-foot-one and about 195 pounds with a medium build, glasses and short grey hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a grey-brown T-shirt with a dark coloured vest and grey/black running shoes.
Police are concerned for Bernard’s well-being as it is unusual for him to be out of contact with friends and family for so long, or to leave his vehicle unattended.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Shawnigan Lake RCMP at 250-743-5514.
