Senior sexually assaulted by stranger in Cobble Hill home

Shawnigan Lake RCMP are asking anyone with information or video surveillance from the area to come forward.

Shawnigan Lake RCMP are investigating a report that a senior was sexually assaulted in her Cobble Hill home by an unknown man.

Police responded just after 9 p.m. Tuesday to a home in the Carlton Drive area.

Officers searched with the help of a police dog but the assailant was not located.

The woman is being supported by police victims services.

The attacker is described as white, 18- to 32-years-old and five-foot-10 to six-foot-one with a medium build.

He was described as wearing a dark bicycle helmet and a light-coloured T-shirt, and had a face covering.

Investigators were able to seize items that will be forensically analyzed, said B.C. RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alex Bérubé.

Police are asking anyone with information or video surveillance from the area to come forward.

There are no known connections to any other sexual assaults, police said.
