Victoria police say they have arrested high-risk sexual offender Cameron Ratelle after he allegedly approached a female youth in Langford, breaking his parole.
The youth happened to recognize him from a picture released last October as part of a public notification from Victoria police
Ratelle, who had been staying in a community facility, is designated by the court as a dangerous offender with a history of violent behaviour against young women.
He is believed to be a high risk to reoffend and targets females from 16 to 25.
The West Shore incident happened Jan. 21 when the youth reported being approached and spoken to by Ratelle at a Peatt Road bus stop.
She was not physically injured.
Ratelle had already left when West Shore RCMP officers arrived.
RCMP notified Victoria police, since he had been residing in their jurisdiction, and they arrested him Jan. 22.
Ratelle’s parole has been revoked and he is at an unspecified correctional facility.
