Shelbourne Plaza in Saanich was evacuated this morning as a precaution after a gas leak, say police.
Around 8 a.m. today, a truck backed into a gasline pipe on the exterior of a building in the alley behind Cobs Bread and Fairway Market at Shelbourne Plaza, a strip mall near Shelbourne Street and Cedar Hill Cross Road.
Saanich police Sgt. Steve Eassie said the shops and the area have been evacuated for safety reasons as fire and gas crews contain the leak and clean up.
