Comox Valley RCMP arrested a person with several outstanding warrants this week, but not before a standoff that resulted when they refused to leave their residence.
Police went to the residence Tuesday morning and saw the person inside, but they refused to come outside.
The emergency-response team was brought in and a crisis negotiator made repeated attempts to communicate with the person, emphasizing the desire for a peaceful resolution.
Police were able to obtain judicial authorization to enter the home, but the individual decided to surrender before they proceeded.
“We’d like to thank residents for their patience as this was happening,” said Const. Monika Terragni. “Although it takes some time, this is the outcome we are always striving for.”
