Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Greater Victoria, with strong winds due to arrive overnight Friday and last until late Saturday morning.
Wind speeds of up to 70 kilometres per hour gusting to 90 km/h are expected, due to an intense Pacific frontal system. The strongest winds should be in areas near the Strait of Georgia and Haro Strait.
The weather system should also bring precipitation, with periods of rain expected Friday and showers in the forecast Saturday. There is a 70 per cent change of rain both Sunday and Monday.
