The bogus licence was seized and the teen received a warning for having it, as well as a $368 ticket for excessive speed.

A 17-year-old driver had to get his father to pick him up after he was pulled over in Oak Bay for doing more than twice the speed limit, and found to be carrying a fake driver’s licence.

Oak Bay police said when the teen was pulled over after he was clocked going 83 kilometres an hour in a 40 km/h zone on Beach Drive, near Newport Avenue, the officer noticed he had two driver’s licences in his possession.

One was an Alberta licence with a different date of birth than the B.C. one.

After the teen fessed up that the Alberta licence was a phoney one he had used to get into a bar, the bogus licence was seized and the teen received a warning for having it, as well as a $368 ticket for excessive speed.

His vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

The teen’s father was contacted and arrived to pick him up.

Another dad was hailed to the same spot on the same evening when another 17-year-old was caught doing 89 km/h in the 40 km/h zone in his parents’ car.

That also meant a $368 ticket, a tow and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

A 19-year-old female was nabbed the next night on Beach Drive at Newport for doing 85 km/h in the 40 km/h zone and met the same fate.

Excessive-speed penalties come into effect when drivers are found to be going more than 40 km/h over the posted limit.
