Nanaimo RCMP evacuated a high school in the city Wednesday afternoon after an “unspecified threat” was directed at the school.

Police were called just as classes at John Barsby Secondary were ending for the day and students had started to leave.

Officers and a police dog searched both the interior and exterior of the school, located in the city’s Harewood area.

Police said the public would be advised when the search was complete.
