Tools worth thousands of dollars taken from View Royal construction site

West Shore RCMP are investigating the thefts, which occurred on Aug. 8 and 17.


Update: After receiving multiple tips following the release of a photo of a suspect, police have made an arrest.

 

About $20,000 worth of tools and equipment were stolen in a pair of break-ins at a construction site in View Royal.

West Shore RCMP are investigating the thefts, which occurred on Aug. 8 and 17.

Surveillance footage from about 3:05 a.m. on Aug. 8 shows a man breaking into the Helmcken Road site and stealing items before leaving in a newer-model black SUV.

There appeared to be two females and a medium-sized dog in the vehicle.

Photos of a suspect have been released.

He is believed to be 25 to 40 years old with glasses and was wearing light-coloured pants, an orange-and-grey, long-sleeve shirt and reddish-brown shoes.
